Sanders Ridge family-style dinner, by the fire

Tarheel Taps & Corks has had some wonderful dinners at Sanders Ridge Winery before, on the porch in spring, but has always wanted to try the winery’s popular Thursday night family-style dinners. On a recent trip to the Yadkin Valley wine country, we managed to slip in a Thursday night dinner at the winery, this time at a table in front of the fire with a bluegrass band playing nearby.

The dinner menu was:
Parmesan crusted chicken Milanese with lemon herb butter
Garden salad with sourdough croutons and creamy herb dressing
Rice pilaf
Sautéed squash, zucchini & red onions
Wilted spinach
Crusty fresh sourdough bread
Lemon cheese cake

Our wine choices were a glasses of Trillium white blend (me) and a Sauvignon Blanc (husband), both really crisp, clean white wines.

The portions were generous, and it was a light crowd that night. Live bluegrass music is offered Thursdays, this evening by Wayne Underwood Band. Sanders Ridge is off the beaten path, but the GPS got us there – maybe we used coordinates? Anyway, in winter, it’s probably a good idea to arrive before dark.

And here’s a tip – Sanders Ridge zip line was offering a buy-one, get-one-half-off for winter. As cold as it was when we were there, I wonder just what a deal that is…
