It’s a bit of a mystery what you’ll have to drink when you stop by Mystery Brewing Co. of Hillsborough. Instead of taps lined up with old favorites, Mystery Brewing always has something new to drink.
Mystery’s tradition is that all the beers on tap at any time are seasonal, no flagship brews, and recently there were at least 11 Mystery brews on tap along with a few guest brews. Mystery Brewing in Hillsborough opened a Public House just a couple of months ago, just blocks from the brewery on Dimmocks Mill Road. It’s a great little taproom, with a patio and plenty of indoor seating.
So we tried the Vagabond Table Beer and Rosalind Wine Barrel-Aged Saison. The barrel-aged saison was light and citrusy, a nice choice for a summer beer, aged in red wine barrels from Raffaldini Vineyards near Elkin. In addition to our beers, they were serving Papa Bois Foreign Extra Stout; Lockwood’s Retreat IPA, Langhorne Rye Wit , Evangeline, another summer saison, and more.
The public house is a great place stop by for a beer, so whenever you’re in Hillsborough, take the mystery out of where to have a drink and stop by the Mystery Public House.
