I used to get excited about what I would eat at Durham Bulls baseball games – burrito or barbecue sandwich, nachos with jalapeños, cinnamon-glazed nuts, frozen custard… So many choices! Now, the DBAP (Durham Bulls Athletic Park) is also a great spot for cold, craft brews.
My personal favorite is the citrusy Foothills Hefeweizen from Foothills Brewing of Winston-Salem. There is always a line at the DBAP’s two Foothills kiosks, where Hoppyum IPA is batting a thousand, along with Torch Pilsner.
But other local breweries are also getting some hits. Carolina Brewery of Chapel Hill gets on base with Bullpen Pale Ale, brewed especially for the DBAP, while their Copperline Amber Ale really knocks one out of the park!
Batting third in the lineup is Natty Greene’s Brewing Co. of Raleigh and Greensboro. And Raleighites who want a ride to a ballgame in Durham can look for the Bulls Bus (Coming up again on Aug. 31). For $25, you can catch the Bulls Bus at the brewery on Jones Street, enjoy beer on the bus, a ticket to the game, hot dog and a beer, and finally a ride home.
Next time you’re the visiting team at one of North Carolina’s many minor league ballparks, hit a home run with one of our amazing local craft brews!
