Beer on the Brickyard at N.C. State?

I couldn’t resist the chance to see for myself when I read a promo for the Wednesday Campus Farmers Market at N.C. State University that said, “Come on out! Prizes, free beer, bread and desserts, and educational material around local breweries.” The “free beer” was actually baked into several desserts that the student Nutrition Club prepared to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day. I tasted “stout cupcakes choco,” made from Duck Rabbit Milk Stout, produced in Farmville by Duck Rabbit Craft Brewery. Other goodies included chocolate chip beer cookies with beer from Carolina Brewing Co. and buttered beer bread made with a Lonerider selection, both in Wake County. The event also included information about local breweries, home brewing equipment and hops. Did you know that craft brew sales grew by more than 10 percent last year?

    Now that is one of the ways that I like to enjoy craft beer – in food!
    Desserts and craft beer can go well together – paired.
